With over 35 years in publishing, Olga Vezeris has held top editorial and subsidiary rights
positions in major trade book companies, including Simon & Schuster/Pocket Books, Time
Life, Grand Central Publishing (formerly Warner Books), Workman Publishing, HarperCollins
and the Bertelsmann Book Club Group. In addition to her acquisition, editing and licensing
responsibilities, her staff positions included working with various imprints inter-company
to manage acquisitions of hard-cover and soft-cover titles.
Olga started and ran an imprint of books specifically for Grand Central’s special sales
department. Those illustrated and gift books focused on lifestyle, cooking, young children’s,
self-help and gift books.
One of the most versatile and well-rounded individuals in the publishing industry, with a
strong sense of what sells in the marketplace, she has acquired original, reprint, book club
and audio titles in all areas of commercial fiction and nonfiction. In fiction, she has
acquired or licensed hundreds of titles in the areas of general and women’s fiction, thrillers,
and mystery/suspense. Some of the nonfiction categories in which she has expertise are
self-help, popular psychology, art, lifestyle, health and fitness and illustrated books.
Her work in audio books included acquisition of product for the HarperCollins and Caedmon
lists, including multi-CD boxed sets complete with accompanying booklets.
As a subsidiary rights director handling both domestic and translation rights, Olga also was
the editorial and rights executive pivotal in setting up the paperback list for Simon &
Schuster’s British subsidiary. In addition to staff positions, Olga has done editorial and
rights consulting for such companies as Rodale and Scholastic.
As a visiting lecturer for the NYU Publishing Institute, she has taught in the summer
program and during the school year semesters. Olga also has been a member of the Book
Industry Study Group.
All of her experience enables her to confidently offer the following services: editing,
developing proposals, manuscript evaluation, idea development, help with query letters, and
advice on all aspects of the publishing process.
